Cam Gordinier:
“I have been a volunteer at the Nevada Humane Society (NHS) for the past 5 1/2 years. This has been mainly as a dog walker but can involve whatever is needed to help the staff and the dogs and other animals.
Volunteering at Nevada Humane Society is a great boost for the soul, both mine and the dogs’. There is boundless joy in the excited greetings from the kennel residents as we get ready for a walk—and of course a treat or two. Off we go into fresh air and sunshine for some exercise and exploration, tails wagging and smiles all around.
I have volunteered in animal shelters for many years and have found NHS to be right at the top in terms of the staff, the attention paid to the animals, and the clean modern facility. Often, these pets end up in situations that leave them stranded, alone and frightened. NHS is a safe harbor for these animals. When they finally end up at NHS they are cared for in every way with the ultimate goal of finding a good home for each and every one. I know this because we have adopted two wonderful companions from the NHS!
As a dog walker it is so rewarding to help each and every one move forward emotionally and mentally and get them one step closer to a forever home.”
