Archer and his 2 sisters came into our shelter on 12/02/2019. They entered our foster program to get big and strong. Once they were old enough, they were all spayed and neutered. The same day they were made available, Archer was adopted!
Three years later, Archer was surrendered. Archer’s owner had to make the hard decision of giving him a chance to find a home that could better afford his medical needs. Archer was diagnosed with dermatitis, which is a common skin disease characterized by excessive itchiness. It is caused by a reaction to substances in the environment known as allergens, and it’s a lifelong condition.
Our clinic team started by getting Archer on medication, a special diet, and special baths. Then our dog team began helping him look for his fur-ever home. He is a wiggly playful pup who had a heart of gold and so much love to share. His positivity and fun-loving personality were contagious. He just wanted to have a good time and wanted everyone he met to want the same. This didn’t go unnoticed because just 5 days after being made available Archer found his fur-ever family! Here is an update from his family!
“Well, this will be Archer’s first Christmas and birthday with us, and we can’t wait. He’s already picked out his stocking (it’s Eeyore). We are looking for some fun ideas to make his 4th birthday extra special. Since we adopted Archer, things have changed. He’s picked his human, which is my 14-year-old daughter… they are inseparable he sleeps with her every night, but he loves everyone he goes to each person as he sees fit and demands his love. Archer became my ESA animal this year as well. We also adopted another dog, she’s a 10-year-old boxer named Kona, and they are the best of friends. Kona gets Archer out playing and running, which is amazing to see. Archer loves balloons, his balls, and nummy treats. Archer helped fill a hole in our family after we lost our gemma girl to cancer. Even with his allergies, we make it work. He still has allergy attacks from time to time, but we love that big goofy boy.”
The best Christmas gift is seeing these furry friends find their forever homes. Our mission is to care for pets, find them homes and save lives. This is possible because of our community’s support and donors’ generosity. Wishing you and your furry family a warm and cozy holiday season.
