Your support keeps pups like Cody smiling.
When Johnny, a former Reno Fire Department Firefighter, retired earlier this year, he began looking for a dog to be a companion for himself and his other rescue pup, Belle, he was searching for a large dog who loved water, kids and people. Judging by Cody’s “Snoopy Dance of Joy” when he knows he going to the park, or swimming, or for a ride, this is the perfect match.
While Cody is now a happy, healthy, two-year-old yellow lab who loves to swim and go on adventures, his road to getting there wouldn’t have been possible without Johnny, our Nevada Humane Society clinic and no-kill, open-admission mission, a local vet specialist and NHS supporters and donors.
Left Lonely
In early June, Cody was surrendered to a local specialty vet to be euthanized as he needed two major knee surgeries and rehabilitation that came with a cost of $5,500 that his owners simply couldn’t afford. Knowing Cody was young and otherwise healthy, the vet took ownership of Cody and immediately called us knowing NHS is the only open-admission, no-kill shelter in Nevada. We took ownership of Cody and immediately got him his first knee surgery.
This year, as part of our Giving Tuesday campaign, Petco Love and the Gillemot Foundation are matching up to $10,000 in donations to DOUBLE your impact! We are trying to reach a fundraising goal of $20,000!
