Buddy overcomes Challenges
Buddy came to us, unable to use his back legs at all. Other than that, he seemed like a healthy dog, so we were determined to figure out what was going on.
At only four years old, this adorable dog needed specialized care to hopefully be able to live a long, happy life. We performed an assessment and x-rays to try and see if this would show anything.
Working towards a solution, together
The x-rays did not show us any abnormalities and we placed Buddy on medication to see if this would help. We saw when he would go on his potty breaks, that he was able to slightly move his hind legs when walking, but not entirely.
The medication did not seem to be helping Buddy, so we decided that we needed to request an appointment with a specialist.
We sent in a request for the end of the week with Dr. Kristin Kee, an acupuncturist and veterinarian.
“Veterinary acupuncture and laser therapy allows for noninvasive relief in place of or in conjunction with pharmaceuticals and/or surgical procedures. This integrative approach to care helps reduce pain, enhances function, and improves quality of life to help pets live a fuller life.” – Dr. Kee, Acupuncturist & Veterinarian.
After his first treatment, Buddy was able to put more weight on his back legs and had slightly more mobility. We decided to keep up with the treatments every few days to see if this would continue to help improve his functionality.
By the third appointment, Buddy was walking in, with a smile on his face. We were overjoyed to see his progress and that he was able to use his legs again.
“I was so thrilled to be able to call his mom, who only spoke Spanish, and relay the good news. Our amazing vets, clinic team, and I worked hard to help him heal and we were overjoyed when he could walk again. I was so thrilled to be able to call his mom to give her the good news. Language can be a huge barrier for people, I am so thankful we were able to help Buddy and his mom.”
