KYA – Kya was one of the longest-term cats in our shelter this year. We couldn’t understand why the calmest cat with the best demeanor continued to sit and wait for her forever family.
She went to foster care after being surrendered in 2020, and then was transferred to our Reno Shelter later in 2021. She spent some time in our cat room, but we learned that she truly just wanted to be around people. Kya graduated to office cat of our development coordinator, Lisa, and the two of them made an incredible bond.
Lisa as well as some of our other staff knew it would be hard to watch her go, but that a home is what she desperately needed. Finally, her perfect match came along.
A couple came to visit with cats, and were intrigued to learn that Kya was the longest-term cat at our Reno Shelter. They decided they must visit with her. Soon they couldn’t believe that no one had scooped her up yet! They went out, bought her things and came back to adopt her.
Her new parents listened carefully as our medical team explained to them insulin and all the processes that went along with caring for a cat with diabetes. Finally, the moment came, and they got to take her home!
She gets snuggles from all her new family members.
“She loves lying in bed and catches some sun in the window and she gets tons and tons of loves from my one and three-year-old daughters! Kya is wonderful and I am So happy to give her, her forever home!” — Brandi, Kya’s adopter.
