Hi, I’m Jerleen Bryant, Chief Executive Officer at the Nevada Humane Society. I’ve dedicated more than two decades to nonprofit animal welfare, driven by a deep belief that effective animal welfare is about more than saving lives, it’s about supporting the people and communities who love animals, and the caregivers who show up every day to care for them.
As CEO, I have the honor of leading a passionate team of more than 120 staff members who bring together data-driven decision-making, industry best practices, and compassion to care for animals, connect pets with families, and serve our community. I am especially committed to supporting our caregivers, because I believe that when staff feel valued, supported, and empowered, animals receive the very best care.
Before joining Nevada Humane Society, I served as Executive Director of the Dave and Cheryl Duffield Foundation in Incline Village, where I led strategic grantmaking initiatives with a primary focus on advancing animal welfare across Nevada. In this role, I partnered with and supported organizations working on the front lines of animal care, while also overseeing philanthropic investments in education and a range of nonprofit initiatives across the country. This experience broadened my perspective on the critical role philanthropy plays in driving sustainable, community-wide impact.
Prior to that, I spent eight years as CEO of the Maui Humane Society, where I worked alongside an incredible team to implement progressive policies and expand access to affordable spay and neuter services. During that time, we significantly reduced intake and dramatically improved live release rates for both dogs and cats.
Earlier in my career, I spent many years training and competing with dogs across the country while operating a foster-based rescue, experiences that shaped my hands-on understanding of animal behavior and humane care.
When I’m not at the shelter, I enjoy spending time with my family and my dogs, staying active through mountain biking, working out, and playing pickleball with friends. No matter where I am, my passion remains the same: strengthening the bond between people and animals, and building humane organizations where animals, the people who love them, and the caregivers who serve them can all thrive.
