New Year, New You?
Every first of the year, we tell ourselves we’re going to eat healthier, exercise more, and get on a set schedule. How many of us actually follow through with our goals? That’s hard to say. This year Nevada Humane Society presents to you why adopting a shelter pet can help you keep aligned with your goals.
Dogs
Dogs need a lot of exercise, especially those that are overweight or high energy. If dogs do not have a place to expend that built up energy, they might just take it out on your favorite pair of shoes. That is why they are the perfect addition to your workout routine. Dogs can help keep you accountable on your goals, and make sure that both of you are getting the exercise you know you deserve.
Cats
Cats have a tendency to spend most of their days lying around, sunbathing, or sitting on their favorite perch. Just being in the presence of these animals can help reduce your stress levels and keep your blood pressure down. Studies have shown that petting animals can lower stress, but so can just being near them. Not to mention, maybe you decide you are going to take up yoga as part of your weekly routine. Why not invite your feline friend to join you?
Bunnies
Bunnies have a special diet they have to follow, just like you! These small critters’ diets are made up largely of hay, but they also enjoy leafy greens and a treat of fresh fruit now and then. Make sure you are keeping a healthy diet while keeping up with your bunny’s diet. You two can be partners in your health journey.
These are just a few of the many reasons that you should adopt and invest in a shelter pet this year. Not only will they help you on your journey to wellness, they will also provide you with unconditional love and support.
