Our First-Ever Dog Wedding
On March 13, 2021 Nevada Humane Society threw our very first dog wedding. We wanted Oh-Da-Babay and Lightning Liam to have a very special day. These two found each other in foster care, when they were both placed in the same home.
The Love Story
Oh-Da-Babay was a stray before she found her way to us, so we do not know much about this girl’s mysterious past. When she came in to the shelter, she needed a couple medical surgeries and once she was recovering, she went to foster care as she awaited another.
Lightning Liam had come from a hard and neglectful past, making him very nervous. He came into our Carson city shelter, and he was covered in matted fur and barbed wire. The team cleaned him up and got his beautiful coat back to its former glory. Because he was underweight, he needed to go into foster care to put on weight and become healthy again.
This is where the two of them found in each other and fell in love. With their dedicated foster parents, these two found happiness and were in the best care that they could be. They snuggled up together, and found comfort in each others’ presence. It was great for both of them to have a partner in healing.
They became inseparable and finally after a month of spending time together Lightning Liam proposed! Oh-Da-Babay gladly accepted and now celebrated this happy occasion with friends and their foster family.
The Ceremony
The celebration was wonderful! There was a special cake for the two lovebirds (which they were able to share with some of their doggy friends that attended) and one for the human guests as well. Carson City Florist donated beautiful flowers to help make this wedding a success and Dillard’s gave supplies for the happy couple to bring to their new home.
Lightning Liam and Oh-Da-Babay walked down the aisle and said their vows to each other. Sarah, who was one of the people that was very involved in the rescue of these two was able to be the officiant.
Oh-Da-babay was a big fan of the cake! She went right in after the “I dos” were said.
Happily Ever After
These two are now enjoying a honeymoon and are staying together when they find their forever home. After Oh-Da-Babay undergoes her other surgery, they will be ready to find adopters in just a couple weeks! These two will be adopted out as a bonded pair, and their adoption fees are being covered by one of our wonderful volunteers.
If you want to help make their honeymoon a hit, you can visit their website at https://theknot.com/lightningliamandoh-da-babay. to buy things from their registry and check out their wedding party, a few who are still available for adoption! We know the happy couple would really appreciate it.
