A Save of 2023

This Christmas miracle has four paws and a wagging tail

Chitters, a lovable and playful pet, was surrendered to our facility due to his owner’s relocation. Despite being a healthy and active dog, we had scheduled him for a routine neuter in early August to ensure his long-term health and well-being. However, when put under anesthesia, Chitters experienced an unexpected and severe allergic reaction, which caused him to code and required immediate medical intervention. Thankfully, due to the quick and skilled actions of our veterinary team, they were able to perform CPR on him and successfully resuscitate him. We are incredibly grateful for the expertise and dedication of our vets, whose swift response saved this sweet boy. At the time of his initial presentation at the clinic for neutering, he weighed 29.6 Ibs. Our veterinarians decided that he needed to gain more weight before undergoing future procedures. He stayed in our care while gaining weight over the course of about a month. Due to his severe adverse reaction to our standard drug protocol, our clinic ordered special medications for him. Once his weight reached 34.5 Ibs, our clinic was able to perform the neuter operation successfully. After the surgery, our clinic closely monitored him to ensure his full recovery.

Chitters’ long medical journey with us was finally over, and our vet team couldn’t be happier! He was in our care for about 2 months till he was ready to find his home. After just four days of being available, Chitter was adopted!

The best Christmas gift is seeing these furry friends find their forever homes. Our mission is to care for pets, find them homes and save lives. This is possible because of our community’s support and donors’ generosity. Wishing you and your furry family a warm and cozy holiday season.
