NHS Metrics Monday 07/14/25

NHS here with your Monday Metrics update along with some key information about last week.
Population & Capacity
As of 8 a.m. Monday, July 14th, we have 554 animals in our care – this is 144 fewer animals compared to the previous week. We have 70 at our Carson Campus, 234 at our Reno Campus, and 250 in the care of our foster volunteers. The Carson Campus dog kennels are at 67% capacity and the Reno Campus dog kennels are at 64% capacity.
Intakes
165 animals came into our campuses last week – 35 fewer than the previous week. NHS received 46 Owner/Guardian Surrenders (+3 animals from the previous week), 16 Strays (-19 animals from the previous week) and 29 Strays too young for adoption (+7 animals from the previous week). We also transferred in 40 cats, 13 dogs, and 0 other animals from our close partners at Washoe County Regional Animal Services.
Outcomes
125 cats, 65 dogs, and 8 others were adopted last week – this is 25 fewer cats, 8 more dogs, and 6 more other animals compared to the previous week. We were able to reunite 3 cats (+1 from the previous week) and 14 dogs (+7 from the previous week) with their owners.
Last week, 13 cats, 3 dogs and 1 rat were humanely euthanized for medical reasons.
Community Support
Last week we received 42 surrender requests for cats and 66 surrender requests for dogs. The median time between a completed application to surrender appointment last week was 1 day for cats and 7 days for dogs. Same day emergency surrender appointments are available every day for situations that require immediate relinquishment.
