Hello Friends!

The Carson Campus dog kennels are at 60.34% capacity and the Reno Campus dog kennels are at 65.49% capacity. Many of our Reno kennels are reserved for the dogs evacuated from CRCCS due to the Davis fire throughout the week. As of today, all the CRCCS animals were able to return to their facility.

NHS received 54 Owner/Guardian Surrenders (+26 animals from the previous week), 17 Strays (+0 animals from the previous week) and 28 Good Samaritan Strays (+2 animals from the previous week). We also transferred in 36 cats, 24 dogs, and 1 other animals from our close partners at Washoe County Regional Animal Services.

Last week, 4 cats and 2 dogs were humanely euthanized for medical reasons and 3 kittens failed to thrive and died unassisted in our care. 4 dogs were euthanized for aggression to humans and one dog was euthanized for behavior that prevented necessary medical care.
Last week at our Reno Campus, we received 44 surrender requests for cats and 66 surrender requests for dogs. The median time between a completed application to surrender appointment last week was 5 days for cats and 8.5 days for dogs. Same day emergency surrender appointments are available every day for situations that require immediate relinquishment.
