Hello Friends!

Trent (Director of Operations) with a Nevada Humane Society Metrics Monday update and some key information about last week.

The Carson Campus dog kennels are at 65.52% capacity and the Reno Campus dog kennels are at 92.96% capacity. Many of our Reno kennels are reserved for the dogs evacuated from CRCCS due to the Davis fire.

NHS received 28 Owner/Guardian Surrenders (-16 animals from the previous week), 17 Strays (+1 animals from the previous week) and 26 Good Samaritan Strays (-5 animals from the previous week). We also transferred in 46 cats, 26 dogs, and 0 other animals from our close partners at Washoe County Regional Animal Services.

99 cats, 45 dogs, and 3 others were adopted last week – this is 4 fewer cats, 9 fewer dogs, and the same number of other animals compared to the previous week. We were able to reunite 1 cats (-1 from the previous week) and 7 dogs (+2 from the previous week) with their owners.

Last week, 6 cats and 1 dog were humanely euthanized for medical reasons and 5 kittens failed to thrive and died unassisted in our care. 3 dogs were euthanized for aggression to humans.

Last week at our Reno Campus, we received 33 surrender requests for cats and 64 surrender requests for dogs. The median time between a completed application to surrender appointment last week was 21 days for cats and 10 days for dogs. Same day emergency surrender appointments are available every day for situations that require immediate relinquishment.
