Hello Friends!

Trent (Director of Operations) with a Nevada Humane Society Metrics Monday update and some key information about last week.

As of 8 am Monday, September 2, we had 599 animals in our care – this is 12 more animals compared to the previous week. We have 75 at our Carson Campus, 170 at our Reno Campus, and 354 in the care of our foster volunteers. The Carson Campus dog kennels are at 65.52% capacity and the Reno Campus dog kennels are at 63.38% capacity.

NHS received 44 Owner/Guardian Surrenders (-3 animals from the previous week), 16 Strays (+1 animals from the previous week) and 31 Good Samaritan Strays (-26 animals from the previous week). We also transferred in 67 cats, 29 dogs, and 3 other animals from our close partners at Washoe County Regional Animal Services.

103 cats, 54 dogs, and 3 others were adopted last week – this is 33 fewer cats, 12 fewer dogs, and the same number of other animals compared to the previous week. We were able to reunite 2 cats (+2 from the previous week) and 5 dogs (+3 from the previous week) with their owners.

Last week, 7 cats and 3 dogs were humanely euthanized for medical reasons and 1 kitten failed to thrive and died unassisted in our care. 3 dogs were euthanized for aggression to humans, and 1 dog was euthanized for aggression to humans and animals.
