Population & Capacity
As of 7pm Sunday, July 5th, we have 558 animals in our care – 29 less animals from the previous week. We have 53 at our Carson Campus, 254 at our Reno Campus, and 251 in the care of our foster volunteers. The Carson Campus dog kennels are at 38% capacity, and the Reno Campus dog kennels are at 66% capacity.
Intakes
181 animals came into our campuses last week. NHS received 51 Owner/Guardian Surrenders (four less animals from the previous week), 20 Strays (one more than the previous week) and 25 Strays too young for adoption (27 less from the previous week). We transferred 43 cats and 31 dogs from our close partners at Washoe County Regional Animal Services. 11 dogs were transferred from other partners.
Outcomes
Community Support
Last week we received 28 surrender requests for cats and 79 surrender requests for dogs. The median time between a completed application to surrender appointment last week was five days for cats and six days for dogs. Same day emergency surrender appointments are available every day for situations that require immediate relinquishment.
