NHS Metrics Monday 07.08.24
Hello Friends!
Trent (Director of Operations) with a Nevada Humane Society Metrics Monday update and some key information about last week.
As of 8 am Monday, July 8, we had 697 animals in our care – this is 34 fewer animals compared to the previous week. We have 66 at our Carson Campus, 266 at our Reno Campus, and 365 in the care of our foster volunteers. The Carson Campus dog kennels are at 65.52% capacity and the Reno Campus dog kennels are at 83.80% capacity. Reno’s dog kennels have been over 80% nearly every day this week. Such sustained high capacity impacts our ability to serve our community’s needs.
175 animals came into our campuses last week – a 24% decrease from the previous week. NHS received 39 Owner/Guardian Surrenders (-10 animals from the previous week), 6 Strays (-4 animals from the previous week) and 16 Good Samaritan Strays (-32 animals from the previous week). We also transferred in 59 cats, 35 dogs, and 6 other animals from our close partners at Washoe County Regional Animal Services.
137 cats, 44 dogs, and 2 others were adopted last week – this is 17 fewer cats, 36 fewer dogs, and 4 fewer other animals compared to the previous week. We were able to reunite 1 cats (-1 from the previous week) and 6 dogs (-5 from the previous week) with their owners.
Last week, 8 cats and 3 dogs were humanely euthanized for medical reasons and 6 kittens and 1 dog failed to thrive and died unassisted in our care
