Population & Capacity
As of 7pm Sunday, June 28th, we have 587 animals in our care – 44 less animals from the previous week. We have 45 at our Carson Campus, 263 at our Reno Campus, and 279 in the care of our foster volunteers. The Carson Campus dog kennels are at 30% capacity, and the Reno Campus dog kennels are at 60% capacity.
Intakes
192 animals came into our campuses last week. NHS received 55 Owner/Guardian Surrenders (five more animals from the previous week), 19 Strays (six more than the previous week) and 52 Strays too young for adoption (11 more from the previous week). We transferred 30 cats and 26 dogs from our close partners at Washoe County Regional Animal Services. 10 dogs were transferred from other partners.
Outcomes
Community Support
Last week we received 36 surrender requests for cats and 95 surrender requests for dogs. The median time between a completed application to surrender appointment last week was four days for cats and six days for dogs. Same day emergency surrender appointments are available every day for situations that require immediate relinquishment.
