NHS Metrics Monday 06.03.24

Trent (Director of Operations) with a Nevada Humane Society Metrics Monday update and some key information about last week.
As of 8 am Monday, June 3, we had 753 animals in our care – this is 43 additional animals compared to the previous week. We have 58 at our Carson Campus, 224 at our Reno Campus, and 471 in the care of our foster volunteers. The Carson Campus dog kennels are at 67.24% capacity and the Reno Campus dog kennels are at 76.06% capacity.
224 animals came into our campuses last week – a 4% increase from the previous week. NHS received 45 Owner/Guardian Surrenders (-15 animals from the previous week), 18 Strays (+3 animals from the previous week) and 31 Good Samaritan Strays (-4 animals from the previous week). We also transferred in 90 cats, 25 dogs, and 0 other animals from our close partners at Washoe County Regional Animal Services.
105 cats, 43 dogs, and 3 others were adopted last week – this is 15 more cats, 18 fewer dogs, and 1 fewer other animals compared to the previous week. We were able to reunite 1 cats (+1 from the previous week) and 12 dogs (+2 from the previous week) with their owners.
Last week, 6 cats and 1 dog was humanely euthanized for medical reasons and 9 kittens failed to thrive and died unassisted in our care. 3 dogs were euthanized for aggression to humans and 1 for aggression to humans and animals.
Definitions:
- Last week: The period from Monday to Sunday ending on 06/02/2024.
- Previous week: The period from Monday to Sunday ending on 05/26/2024.
- Owner/Guardian Surrenders – Animals surrender to NHS by the legal owners of the animal.
- Strays – Animals found and turned into NHS without a clear owner.
- Good Samarian Strays – Animals found and turned into NHS who are younger than 8 weeks of age and too young to stay in shelter for a stray hold.
