NHS Metrics Monday 04.22.24

Hello Friends!

Trent (Director of Operations) with a Nevada Humane Society Metrics Monday update and some key information about last week.

As of 8 am Monday, April 22th, we had 430 animals in our care – this is 73 additional animals than the previous week. We have 42 at our Carson Campus, 163 at our Reno Campus, and 225 in the care of our foster volunteers. The Carson Campus dog kennels are at 56.90% capacity and the Reno Campus dog kennels are at 66.90% capacity.

237 animals came into our campuses last week – a 23% increase from the previous week. NHS received 66 Owner/Guardian Surrenders (+25 animals from the previous week), 20 Strays (+2 animals from the previous week) and 47 Good Samaritan Strays (+23 animals from the previous week). We also transferred in 53 cats, 29 dogs, and 5 other animals from our close partners at Washoe County Regional Animal Services.

53 cats, 75 dogs, and 7 others were adopted last week – this is 3 fewer cats, 8 additional dogs, and 3 fewer other animals than the previous week. We were able to reunite 3 cats (+3 from the previous week) and 6 dogs (-4 from the previous week) with their owners.

Last week, 3 cats and 2 dogs were humanely euthanized for medical reasons and 4 kittens and one guinea pig failed to thrive and died unassisted in our care. One cat was euthanized whose severe behavior prevented life-saving medical care. 4 dogs were euthanized for aggression to humans and one for aggression to humans and animals.
