NHS Metrics Monday 04.01.24
Hello Friends!
Trent (Director of Operations) with a Nevada Humane Society Metrics Monday update and some key information about last week.
As of 8 am Monday, April 1, we had 348 animals in our care – this is 6 more than the previous week. We have 57 at our Carson Campus, 154 at our Reno Campus, and 137 in the care of our foster volunteers. The Carson Campus dog kennels are at 86.21% capacity and the Reno Campus dog kennels are at 70.42% capacity. Being over 80% capacity, Carson will need to limit intakes to emergency and previously scheduled intakes until capacity issues resolve.
163 animals came into our campuses last week – a 16% increase from the previous week. NHS received 42 Owner/Guardian Surrenders (-7 animals from the previous week), 17 Strays (+2 animals from the previous week) and 8 Good Samaritan Strays (-1 animal from the previous week). We also transferred in 34 cats, 46 dogs, and 3 other animals from our close partners at Washoe County Regional Animal Services.
59 cats, 60 dogs, and 2 others were adopted last week – this is 1 more cat, 17 fewer dogs, and 6 fewer other animals than the previous week. We were able to reunite 0 cats (-1 from the previous week) and 5 dogs (-4 from the previous week) with their owners.
Last week, 1 cat was humanely euthanized for medical reasons and 1 cat was euthanized whose severe behavior prevented life-saving medical care. 5 dogs were euthanized for aggression to humans.
