Introducing Metrics Mondays
Hello Friends!
As many of you know, there have been substantial leadership changes at NHS over the past 9 months. During this time, we have been working on our internal processes and procedures while bringing shelter operations in line with industry-accepted best practices. As an organization that relies on community support, we are critically aware of the need for transparent and regular reporting, and as such we are excited to share the first Metrics Monday Update with you!
As of 8 am Monday, March 11th, we had 340 animals in our care – this is 31 fewer than the previous week. We have 54 at our Carson Campus, 155 at our Reno Campus, and 131 in the care of our foster volunteers. The Carson Campus dog kennels are at 63.79% capacity and the Reno Campus dog kennels are at 63.38% capacity.
143 animals came in to our campuses last week – a 3% decrease from the previous week. NHS received 47 Owner/Guardian Surrenders (+14 animals from the previous week), 15 Strays (+1 animals from the previous week) and 4 Good Samaritan Strays (-2 animals from the previous week). We also transferred in 55 dogs, 11 cats, and 1 other animals from our close partners at Washoe County Regional Animal Services.
64 cats, 72 dogs, and 1 others were adopted last week – this is 21 additional cats, 16 additional dogs, and 6 fewer other animals than the previous week. We were able to reunite 2 cats (+1 from the previous week) and 5 dogs (-2 from the previous week) with their owners.
Last week, 3 cats and 3 dogs were humanely euthanized for medical reasons and 2 cats had unassisted deaths in our care.
