12 Saves | You Never Gave Up on Tyler

Tyler’s playful spirit quickly won hearts, and he was adopted soon after arriving at NHS. But his high energy and tension with the family’s other dog proved too much. A few weeks later, they made the difficult decision to surrender him back into our care, giving him another chance at a happy, healthy life.

It was a hard choice, but the right one for Tyler, a step that set him on the path to his perfect match.

Back at the shelter, it became clear why his family had struggled to help him adjust to life at home. Tyler was a sweet boy, but his big feelings often showed up as barking, jumping, resource guarding, and over-the-top excitement. With patience and training, these behaviors could be redirected into something positive, but for a busy family with kids and other pets, it was simply too much.

This is where you stepped in to change his story.

Because of your generosity, Tyler entered our Behavior Program, where donor support provides the time, staff, and resources dogs like him need to thrive. For nine months, he worked closely with one of NHS’s Behavior Leads, forming a special bond with her. She became the first person he truly trusted, celebrating his small victories, helping him learn how to redirect his energy, and teaching him to settle calmly. Step by step, Tyler gained the confidence and skills to finally show adopters the loving dog he had always been.

Your donation today provides training, patience, and care that transforms lives like Tyler’s. Make your gift today to help the next pet waiting for their chance.

All that patience and training paid off. Tyler’s life changed the day he met Cameron, a veteran looking for a loyal companion. The two connected instantly, and Tyler finally found his fur-ever home.

Tyler needed extra care. Your support provided it. With the time, resources, and patience you made possible, Tyler received the training he needed, found his perfect match, and today he is thriving.

Thanks to your support, pets like Tyler who need extra time and care aren’t left behind. You stand by them until they’re ready for their fur-ever families.
