Halston’s New Beginning

When Halston, a stunning two-year-old lab mix, first arrived at Nevada Humane Society, he was full of energy, eager to explore, and in search of love. Found wandering the streets, he came to us with a heart full of untold stories and an equally big personality. For 184 days, Halston waited for the right family to see past his nervousness and give him the chance he deserved.

At first glance, Halston’s kennel behavior was far from perfect; he would jump, bark loudly, and struggle with excitement whenever someone approached. But beneath the surface, he was a sweet, loving dog who just wanted a family full of attention and affection.

One of his best experiences was a five-hour dog date with a dedicated NHS volunteer. Halston played with the volunteer’s dog, enjoyed a bath, and took a peaceful nap in the car on the way back, proving just how wonderful he could be when given the right environment. It quickly became clear that outside the shelter, Halston transformed into a completely different dog.

But back in his kennel, Halston’s frustration grew. The noise, the lack of space, and the absence of daily adventures were taking a toll on him. He needed more than occasional walks, he needed mental stimulation, daily exercise, and the chance to be his best self.

Thankfully, a family saw past his nervous energy and fell in love with the affectionate, playful dog he truly is. Today, Halston is thriving in his new home, finally getting the attention, love, and adventures he needs.
