Ford’s whole world changed in an instant. After eight wonderful years with his dad, he found himself at Nevada Humane Society when his owner faced a life-threatening medical crisis and could no longer care for him. 

For a dog who had only ever known one person, the shelter was a big, unfamiliar place. Ford was scared, timid around new faces, and unsure what was happening. But this is exactly why Nevada Humane Society exists: to be the safety net for pets and people when life takes an unexpected turn.

Ninety days later, something incredible happened. 

Ford’s former owner’s daughter, who had recently turned 18, came across his photo in a social media posts. The moment she saw his sweet, familiar face, she knew, she had to bring him home in honor of her dad. 

When she arrived, Ford’s timid eyes brightened the instant he saw her. It was as if he recognized his family all over again. Their reunion was quiet, full of emotion, and absolutely perfect. After 90 days of waiting, Ford went home, not just to any home, but back to the family that had always loved him. 

Today, Ford spends his days curled up beside the person he grew up with, surrounded by love and belonging once more.
