Host a Fundraiser

Anyone! Individuals, businesses, schools, community groups, and clubs are all welcome
to host fundraisers that support our mission, as long as your event aligns with our
values and guidelines.

While we’re happy to offer limited guidance, we’re unable to provide administrative or
logistical support for third-party events. All planning, organizing, costs, and promotion
are the responsibility of the event organizer.

We’ve found animals are most likely to get adopted in the walls of our shelters. As a
nonprofit, adoption events are also labor and resource intensive. With our limited
resources and in the best interest of the animals, we cannot guarantee animal
attendance at your event. We can host adoption events as perks of philanthropic
partnership through annual sponsorship. If you’re interested in learning more, check out

We may be able to send Community Ambassador informational volunteers if needed
and with enough advance notice. Please contact our team at least 6 weeks before your
event if you’d like to request volunteer attendance for tabling on organization
information.

Nevada Humane Society cannot pay for or reimburse any event expenses. Please plan
your event budget carefully, including venue rental fees or other costs that may come
up.

Generally, Nevada Humane Society does not host third-party fundraisers within it’s
shelters or on our property. Our shelters stay busy caring for pets and serving the
public every day, so we’re not able to accommodate outside events on-site.

Absolutely! We love celebrating the impact of our community fundraisers. You’re
welcome to schedule a time to drop off your final donation in person and take a photo
with your group and our team. We’re also happy to give your group a brief tour of our
shelter when possible, so you can see the lifesaving work your support makes possible.
Please reach out in advance to schedule your visit, so we can make sure the right staff
are available to greet you, snap a photo, and show you around!

Only donations made directly to Nevada Humane Society (by check, online, or via
approved channels) are tax-deductible and eligible for a receipt. If you’re collecting
money at your event and then sending net proceeds, please do not promise donors that
their gifts are tax-deductible.
